History of Muso Jikiden Eishin Ryu in Finland

In 1995 Musô Jikiden Eishin Ryû Iaidô (Seitokai) was taken up by the Finnish budo club "Budoseura Genbu-kai" in Helsinki. Their affiliation was with the Iaidô teacher Ishigaki Mutsuyoshi Sensei, hanshi 10th dan (Zen Nippon Iaido Renmei).

From the year 2000 the kyudo and iaido club "Hikari" in Helsinki has had a connection also with Iwata Norikazu Sensei (MJER menkyo kaiden, hanshi 8th dan) through its liaison with the Eikoku Roshukai organization in Great Britain. Members of the club have attended Iwata Sensei's seminars both in England and in Japan.

From the year 2004 to the year 2006 Mr. Taneli Takala lived in Hokkaidô and studied there a Musô Jikiden Eishin Ryû Heihô style called the "Ôe-ha" under Tabuchi Kiyoshi Sensei (kyôshi 8th dan), one of Masaoka Kazumi Sensei's students. This style is no more studied in Finland. It was affiliated to the Dôjô Musô Jikiden Eishin Ryû Ôe-ha Seishikan in Date, Hokkaidô, Japan.

In the Finnish Kendo Federation there are some people, who have chosen to study Musô Jikiden Eishin Ryû as a koryû art beside their modern Seitei training. Their affiliation is, of course, the Zen Nihon Kendô Renmei.
